FiveM for GTAV Enhanced is live in early access: here's what changes
120 ticks per second, up to 50% less RAM per player, .NET 10 and NodeJS 26, smarter state bags and a client that finally cleans up its cache.
It's here: the early access version of FiveM for GTAV Enhanced is open to everyone. Cfx.re warns that it has bugs and missing features, but what's already there is impressive. Below we sum up the announcement and the three development updates that came before it.
- Download it with the "Download FiveM for GTAV Enhanced" button on the FiveM website.
- Servers need the new Cfx Server binaries.
- Feedback and bug reports go to the Discussions tab of the GitHub repository.
Networking: from 30 to 120 ticks
Sync frames now travel as raw UDP packets, with ENet kept for event communication. That made room for a much higher sync tick rate: server owners can set it to 120 updates per second, up from 30 (or 40 with sv_useAccurateSends). That means less delay between your action and what others see, which you'll notice most in PvP.
There's more: better retry logic under packet loss, a fix for invisible server-side entities, and entity culling that now runs across multiple cores. Culling used to handle around 16 players per tick on the sync thread, which caused visible pop-in on busy servers. Cfx.re is even looking at servers beyond the current 2,048-player limit.
Scripting runtimes
- .NET 10 for C# developers;
- NodeJS 26 on the server and V8 14.6 on the client;
- State bags: only values marked as replicated go over the network, listeners only fire when the entity exists, and sets are about 10x faster.
Cfx Server
The server component is now called Cfx Server and comes as a separate download, still with txAdmin built in. Memory use per player and per entity has been optimised, by up to 50%, and CPU use is lower in some scenarios too. Linux builds stay on Alpine rootfs, and an official Docker image is planned.
Finally: cache cleanup
On Legacy, every resource file you ever downloaded stayed on your disk forever. The Enhanced client automatically removes files that servers no longer serve. Still to come: automatic cleanup for servers you haven't visited in a while, and a cache overview in the settings.
Dev tools and installer
The developer tools have been rebuilt and now only work on servers that explicitly enable developer mode. The new installer lets you choose a separate folder or drive for the server cache, can create shortcuts, and can repair or uninstall.
Our take
This is FiveM's biggest technical leap in years. But early access means early access: test on a separate server, and read our migration checklist before you invite players.
